I posted on Freecycle earlier in the week that I was looking for an activity table for Trevor (I was NOT going to pay 40 bucks for one of those things!) and to my excitement got a response that very night. The man had one in great shape and I could pick it up whenever I was ready! YAY! So today we made a trip to Jonesboro to pick up a few things and stopped by to pick it up. To my suprise he had added another toy to my haul. A HUGE plush block with shapes on all sides, hidden pockets, zippers, buttons and music. This thing sang a song about a triangle ALL.THE.WAY.HOME.
This is oddest, loudest, most awesome, mildly annoying toy I have ever laid eyes on. Add my gorgeous husband to the mix and the annoyance level rises slightly. Trevor LOVES it of course, and I can't figure out a way to lose a 15x15 inch, singing block anway so I guess it stays. According to Google, these suckers are expensive. The cheapest one we found new was about 60 bucks. Who in their right mind would pay 60 dollars for this kind of punishment? Apparently you can buy extra music cartridges for this thing too. At least that would offer some escape from the repetitiveness of this gadget.
Anything for my kid. If he's happy, I'm happy. I just might have to buy stock in ear plugs.
*sings* 1 2 3 its a tri-ang-le! Count to 3 and make a tri-ang-le!
Here's Trevor checking out his new (FREE) toys!

Today I am Proud
Maybe I should have posted this yesterday, but I needed time to reflect. I am so proud that my son will grow up in a country that has surpassed its useless prejudices and overstepped racial boundaries to elect the very first African American President of the United States. I am proud to think that, for him, an African American President will be commonplace. That he will not remember the boundaries that prevented it from happening in the past. I hope that when he is old enough to look back on this day that he will understand the vastness of what has happened and the struggle it took to get to where we are now. As I sat rocking Trevor, listening to our new President speak, I was filled with hope for his future. I imagined a country void of racism and prejudice where every man was truly treated as an equal. A country where everyone had the opportunity to be the best that they could be. A country with more love than hate.
I was not a supporter of President Obama, but I fully respect him. His Inauguration speech was inspiring and empowering and I am excited to see what changes he can bring to the United States government. Today I am so proud to be an American.
Trevor stayed up through his morning nap to watch President Obama get sworn in.

I'm Really Starting to Like Him!
I've always loved him. From the moment he was conceived I've loved him more than I ever imagined that I could love anyone, but finally I actually like him. The first three months or so of his short little life I was almost convinced I'd given birth to a gremlin. A screaming, crying, never satisfied gremlin. I spent my days on the couch with this little person attached to my boob, crying if it ever left his mouth. He cried ALL. THE. TIME. If he wasn't sleeping or eating he was crying, and believe me, he wasn't sleeping often. I paced the floors until my feet threatened to fall off, I rocked until the screws literally fell out of my rocking chair. I slept standing up. I prayed. A lot. And I cried right along with him some nights.
Until all at once, my red-in-the-face screaming gremlin suddenly turned into a real boy. This age is so much fun. He is crawling and into everything! He is sitting up on his own, pulling up on the couch, interested in anything and everything and I'm having a blast! I love watching him explore the smallest piece of lint as if he were a world renowned scientist. He loves rolling water bottles across the floor and shredding magazines. He follows me everywhere. He knows the sound of bathwater running and crawls at lightning speed to the bathroom. It is so refreshing to look at the world through his eyes. I find myself noticing things that I never paid attention to before like the small sliver of sunshine on the carpet first thing in the morning (or the dog hair for that matter). He laughs. I'm almost the funniest person in the whole world, second only to Josh. That smile makes every minute of sleep deprivation and near deafness worth it. I never imagined such a reward. He hardly ever cries anymore, now only when he has had enough and is ready for a nap. He is so amazing (and adorable, but you already knew that).
I've never been so in love.

Time (or the lack of it)
I know I haven't been posting as often and by the looks of my stat counter, some of you seem to be going into withdrawls. ;) I will try to do a little better, but honestly I'm having so much fun actually BEING with my baby boy that I don't find as much time to blog about him. lol Plus I've been spending my free time doing other things lately and have fallen behind on the job. But alas, I am back to reward your patience with some new pictures. Enjoy!

Trevor is PULLING UP now!! On everything!!! I'll try to get a video posted soon. And by soon I mean whenever I have time to upload one. :P

The Baby Lazy Boy
Trevor got a package in the mail today. It was his last Christmas present. We put all his Christmas money together and ordered him a sweet new carseat. It truly is the Lazy Boy of carseats. I wish they made them big enough for me to ride in!! LOL
Since we will be on the road a lot soon (and he was outgrowing his infant seat already) we wanted to get him an awesome new seat. It is tied with one other seat for the top safety rating, rear faces until 35 pounds and front faces until 50 pounds! It should be the last carseat that he needs. It also seems to be SUPER comfortable. It was also way easier to install than the other one. Its NICE.
